This Privacy Policy explains how StormIt ("StormIt", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit stormit.ca(the "Site"), read our articles, or use our writing tools. By using the Site you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways:

• Information you give us. When you create a StormIt account we collect your email address, name, and any profile information you choose to provide. If you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your email address.
• Content you create. Drafts, posts, uploads, and text you send to our AI writing tools.
• Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, the pages you visit, and the dates and times of your visits. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 6 and our Cookie Policy).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Site and our services
• Process AI-powered writing assistance requests
• Send you service-related notifications and, if you opt in, our newsletter
• Monitor usage, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits
• Process payments through our payment provider (Stripe)
• Measure and understand how visitors use the Site
• Display and measure advertising on the public areas of the Site

3. AI-Generated Content

Content you create using our AI writing tools is processed by third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI and Anthropic). Your input is sent to these providers to generate responses. We do not use your content to train AI models. Please review the respective providers' privacy policies for their data-handling practices.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We implement row-level security, encryption at rest, and encrypted connections (TLS) for all data transfers. We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

5. Advertising

We use third-party advertising services, including Google AdSense, to display advertisements on the public areas of the Site. Advertising helps keep our content free to read. The following disclosures apply:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies (including the DoubleClick / DART cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
• Third-party ad networks may also use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about your activity on this and other sites to provide targeted advertising and analytics.
• We do not share the personal information in your StormIt account (such as your name or email) with advertisers.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third party's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or www.youronlinechoices.eu (for visitors in the EEA). 6. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes: (1) essential cookies that keep you signed in and the Site working; (2) analytics cookies that help us understand how the Site is used; and (3) advertising cookies set by Google and other ad partners to serve and measure ads. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies through our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. 7. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services, each of which has its own privacy policy:

• Supabase — database and authentication
• OpenAI / Anthropic — AI text and image generation
• Stripe — payment processing
• Vercel — hosting and deployment
• Resend — transactional and newsletter emails
• Google AdSense — advertising

8. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Export your content at any time
• Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies and personalized advertising
• Object to or restrict certain processing

9. Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.

10. Children's Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Visitors

We operate from Canada, and your information may be processed in Canada, the United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection wherever it is processed.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date above.
