Writer Agreement
Last updated: July 6, 2026
This Writer Agreement ("Agreement") applies to writers, contributors, creators, editors, and other approved users who create, submit, edit, or publish content on StormIt ("you" or "Writer").
This Agreement supplements and forms part of our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Privacy Policy, Copyright / DMCA / Notice-and-Takedown Policy, and any program-specific terms. If this Agreement conflicts with a separate signed agreement between you and StormIt, the signed agreement controls.
1. Writer Access and Approval
Writing on StormIt is approval-based. We may approve, decline, pause, suspend, revoke, or limit writer access at our discretion.
You must be at least the age of majority in your province, territory, state, or country of residence to write for StormIt unless we expressly approve otherwise in writing.
You agree to provide accurate information during application, onboarding, tax, payment, identity, and compliance processes.
2. Relationship to StormIt
You participate as an independent creator. Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment, partnership, joint venture, agency, franchise, fiduciary, or exclusive relationship between you and StormIt.
You are not authorized to bind StormIt, make promises on StormIt's behalf, or represent that you are an employee or agent of StormIt.
You are responsible for your own equipment, expenses, workspace, insurance, taxes, registrations, permits, and legal obligations.
3. Editorial Standards
You agree that all content you submit or publish will comply with:
- this Agreement;
- our Terms of Service;
- our Community Guidelines;
- our editorial standards and instructions;
- applicable law;
- third-party rights;
- any program-specific requirements.
You agree to use reasonable care, accuracy, and honesty in your work.
4. Your Content and Ownership
"Your Content" means articles, drafts, essays, guides, images, captions, headlines, comments, notes, prompts, submissions, edits, and other materials you submit, upload, create, or publish through StormIt.
You own Your Content, subject to any rights owned by third parties and any separate agreement you sign.
This Agreement does not transfer ownership of Your Content to StormIt.
5. Licence to StormIt
When you submit, upload, create, or publish Your Content on or through StormIt, you grant StormIt a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable and sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, process, edit, adapt, modify, format, excerpt, publish, publicly display, publicly perform, distribute, transmit, syndicate, promote, archive, and otherwise use Your Content in connection with:
- operating, maintaining, securing, and improving StormIt;
- reviewing, editing, scheduling, publishing, and displaying Your Content;
- creating titles, summaries, excerpts, thumbnails, preview cards, metadata, social posts, newsletter entries, and search snippets;
- promoting StormIt, Your Content, and other StormIt content;
- syndication, distribution, search, feeds, newsletters, social media, and partner placements;
- moderation, trust and safety, legal compliance, and rights enforcement;
- analytics, accessibility, formatting, and technical optimisation.
This licence is non-exclusive, meaning you may publish your work elsewhere unless a separate signed agreement or program-specific terms say otherwise.
6. Licence Duration
For content that remains published, the licence continues while the content is published.
If you delete or unpublish Your Content, or if your account is terminated, the licence ends on a going-forward basis, except StormIt may retain or continue using copies:
- in backups for a limited period;
- where already distributed in newsletters, social posts, feeds, emails, search results, partner systems, screenshots, or other materials;
- where cached, indexed, copied, archived, saved, quoted, or reshared by third parties;
- where reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, audit, compliance, payment, security, investigation, or dispute purposes;
- where another agreement or program-specific term provides otherwise.
7. Moral Rights
To the extent permitted by law, you waive, and agree not to assert, moral rights or similar rights in Your Content against StormIt and its authorized licensees, partners, contractors, and service providers, but only as needed for the uses allowed by this Agreement.
This includes editing, formatting, headline changes, excerpts, summaries, preview cards, promotional materials, accessibility formatting, content moderation, and platform display.
StormIt will generally attribute content to the author profile associated with the content, unless you request otherwise, we approve anonymous or pseudonymous publication, or legal/safety/editorial reasons require otherwise.
8. Name, Bio, Likeness, and Profile
You grant StormIt permission to use your approved name, pen name, profile photo, likeness, biography, credentials, social handles, and other profile information in connection with Your Content, writer pages, attribution, promotion, newsletters, search results, social media, and StormIt marketing.
You represent that you have the right to provide any profile photo, bio, credentials, or other profile information you submit.
9. Your Representations and Warranties
You represent and warrant that:
- Your Content is original to you or you have all rights, licences, permissions, releases, and consents needed to submit, publish, and licence it.
- Your Content does not infringe or violate copyright, trademark, moral rights, privacy, publicity, confidentiality, contractual, proprietary, or other rights.
- Your Content is not defamatory, unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, plagiarized, harmful, hateful, harassing, exploitative, or otherwise prohibited by our policies.
- Any real people, personal stories, images, quotes, screenshots, private facts, medical information, financial information, immigration information, legal matters, or sensitive details are used lawfully and with all required permissions.
- You have taken appropriate steps to anonymise or obtain consent where content involves private individuals, minors, vulnerable persons, patients, clients, employers, landlords, schools, government agencies, or identifiable third parties.
- Any third-party material, including quotes, images, screenshots, charts, data, research, music, video, social posts, or embedded content, is properly licensed, lawfully used, and attributed where required.
- You have disclosed any sponsored, paid, affiliate, gifted, employment, investment, referral, or other material relationship that could affect the content.
- You have checked facts, dates, names, amounts, legal rules, tax rules, medical claims, financial claims, immigration rules, and other factual statements before submission.
- Where you use AI tools, you have reviewed, edited, fact-checked, and taken responsibility for the output before submitting or publishing it.
- You will comply with applicable laws, platform rules, and professional obligations.
10. AI-Assisted Writing
StormIt may provide AI-assisted tools for brainstorming, drafting, editing, summarizing, image generation, content planning, and workflow support.
AI tools are aids, not substitutes for your judgment. You are responsible for:
- reviewing and editing AI output;
- checking accuracy and sources;
- ensuring originality;
- avoiding plagiarism;
- verifying that content does not infringe third-party rights;
- removing false, unsafe, biased, defamatory, private, or unlawful material;
- disclosing AI assistance if StormIt requires disclosure.
You must not knowingly publish AI-generated content that is false, misleading, fabricated, defamatory, plagiarized, infringing, or presented as professionally verified when it has not been reviewed by a qualified person.
11. Sensitive Topics
StormIt may publish content about health, mental health, money, taxes, housing, immigration, employment, business, law, relationships, trauma, disability, addiction, family issues, or other sensitive subjects.
For sensitive topics, you must be especially careful to:
- distinguish personal experience from general information;
- avoid giving individualized professional advice;
- avoid telling readers to start, stop, or change medical treatment, legal strategy, immigration applications, tax filings, investments, or financial decisions;
- recommend qualified professional help where appropriate;
- use current official sources when discussing rules, rates, deadlines, benefits, immigration programs, tax thresholds, or legal procedures;
- avoid sensationalizing self-harm, violence, abuse, or trauma;
- follow StormIt's editorial and safety guidance.
12. Editorial Control
StormIt may review, edit, copy-edit, fact-check, annotate, label, format, schedule, decline, reject, unpublish, remove, update, archive, or otherwise modify submissions for any lawful reason.
We are not obligated to publish any submission or keep any content published.
We may add disclaimers, editor's notes, corrections, source links, labels, content warnings, AI-use labels, affiliate disclosures, or other context.
We may change titles, subtitles, summaries, images, tags, categories, layout, excerpts, and metadata.
13. Corrections and Updates
You agree to cooperate with reasonable requests for corrections, clarifications, source support, updates, rights documentation, consent records, or fact-checking.
If you discover that Your Content contains a material error, legal issue, privacy issue, rights issue, undisclosed conflict, or safety concern, you must promptly notify StormIt.
14. Confidentiality and Non-Public Tools
If StormIt gives you access to non-public information, tools, dashboards, analytics, beta features, editorial processes, business information, security information, prompts, plans, drafts, writer materials, payment information, or internal communications, you must keep that information confidential.
You may use confidential information only to create, submit, edit, manage, or promote your StormIt content as authorized by StormIt.
You must not share screenshots, access credentials, private dashboards, unpublished materials, or non-public information without StormIt's written permission.
15. Payments and Monetisation
Unless a separate signed agreement, published program, or written offer says otherwise, writing, submitting, editing, or publishing content on StormIt does not entitle you to payment.
If StormIt offers a paid writer program, revenue share, tips, bonuses, bounties, sponsorships, contests, referrals, or other monetisation, the applicable program terms will state:
- eligibility requirements;
- how earnings are calculated;
- what activity qualifies or does not qualify;
- payout methods;
- payout timing;
- minimum payout thresholds;
- tax forms or identity checks;
- deductions, reversals, chargebacks, fraud controls, or withholding;
- circumstances where payments may be delayed, reduced, forfeited, or clawed back.
You are responsible for taxes on any amounts you earn. You agree to provide accurate tax, identity, and payment information reasonably requested by StormIt or its payment providers. StormIt may withhold payouts until required information is provided.
16. No Guaranteed Reach or Earnings
StormIt does not guarantee publication, traffic, ranking, promotion, subscribers, revenue, tips, conversions, earnings, continued access, or any particular result from writing on StormIt.
17. Conflicts, Sponsorships, and Endorsements
You must disclose material relationships that could affect your content, including:
- payment or gifts;
- affiliate links;
- sponsorships;
- employment or consulting relationships;
- investments or ownership interests;
- referral arrangements;
- free products or services;
- family or personal relationships;
- any other relationship a reasonable reader would consider relevant.
You may not imply that StormIt endorses a product, service, organization, political position, professional, investment, treatment, legal strategy, or claim unless StormIt expressly approves.
18. Takedowns, Complaints, and Cooperation
StormIt responds to copyright, trademark, privacy, defamation, safety, and legal complaints.
You agree to cooperate with reasonable requests relating to complaints about Your Content, including providing rights documentation, sources, permissions, releases, edits, corrections, or removal assistance.
StormIt may remove, disable, restrict, demonetise, or unpublish Your Content while reviewing a complaint or legal risk.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless StormIt and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, suppliers, licensors, and service providers from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or related to:
- Your Content;
- your breach of this Agreement;
- your breach of the Terms, Community Guidelines, or other StormIt policies;
- your violation of law;
- your violation or alleged violation of third-party rights;
- your fraud, negligence, wilful misconduct, misrepresentation, plagiarism, or rights violation.
20. Suspension and Termination
This Agreement applies while you have writer access or have content submitted to or published on StormIt.
You may stop writing at any time. StormIt may suspend, limit, or terminate writer access at any time, with or without notice, where permitted by law.
After termination:
- your right to access writer tools ends;
- published content may remain published unless removed by you or StormIt, subject to this Agreement;
- outstanding payment obligations, if any, will be handled under the applicable program terms;
- sections that by their nature should survive will survive, including ownership, licences, moral-rights waiver, representations, confidentiality, payment/tax provisions, takedowns, indemnity, dispute terms, and general terms.
21. Governing Law and Disputes
This Agreement is governed by the same law and dispute terms as the Terms of Service, unless a separate signed agreement says otherwise.
22. Changes to This Agreement
We may update this Agreement from time to time. We will post the updated version and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice where required.
Your continued use of writer tools or submission of content after changes take effect means you accept the updated Agreement.
